Plug one end of the LAN cable into the corresponding socket on the back of the IP camera and the other end into a free LAN socket on your network router. When setting up the network camera for the first time, you should use a LAN cable (Ethernet cable), as some network routers have problems with the initial installation via WLAN. Only then should you connect the surveillance camera to your network router. Once the power supply has been established, the IP camera will be noticeable through initial movements or an illuminated LED lamp. Connect the IP cameraīefore adding IP cameras to Dahua DVR, you have to connect the IP surveillance camera to a power source using the power plug supplied. Via the user interface in the web browser or with the Dahua IP Camera Config Tool you can add an IP camera to Dahua DVR. As soon as the IP camera is connected to your network, you have full access to all setting options. One day we will have Open-WRT/DD-WRT/Tomato open router firmware equivalent for IP-Cameras which will free us from crappy, insecure firmware hell that the IP Camera market is (FFS why ActiveX is still used?).Īny friendly Dahua resellers/employees here? I will promise not to publish actual tool (only the result from reverse engineering, which is perfectly legal ).In order to be able to set up an IP camera to Dahua DVR after purchase, the camera must be connected to its own network structure.

Why? Because I would like to actually own my hardware. Here is a proof of concept for Hikvision: I would love to get my hands on it to reverse engineer and make an open source friendly script (since I don't run windows, apart from a test virtual machine used to reverse engineer windows only tools). What I found out is that Dahua has internal password reset tool (ConfigCleaner). Since admin password is part of telnet password, if admin password is forgotten and other users also have been deleted it is not possible to reset the camera at home without RS232. (Correct me if I am wrong): As many of you aware newer Dahua cameras do not come with reset button to reset it to factory defaults (or at least reset the password).
